The Calumet Lake Pavilion
THE CALUMET LAKE PAVILION
The Calumet Lake and Dance Pavilion was built by Edward and Dorothy Lorey in 1941 East of North Mill Street in Jasper (County of Dubois), Indiana. They owned and operated its business until 1954 when he sold it to Ed & Rosie Rees. Sadly, we lost Ed Rees in 2002. Rosie Rees continued the Calumet restaurant tradition using the original pizza sauce until May of 2007, when she sold the business to Steve and Helene Crews.
Over the years the Calumet has housed record crowds attending the performances of many bands including Jerry Lee Lewis, The Boxtops, The Kingsmen, The Artie Shaw Orchestra, and the Wylds.

3. Looking east from the Mill Street side, this is the back side of the pavilion before the outside attached "walkway" was completed around the building.
1. This photo is looking west from behind the spillway, which is still under construction. You can see the pillars, off in the distance, for the yet-to-be constructed pavilion just above the railing on the bridge.
2. Looking east from Mill Street, you can now see the finished pavilion, complete with the outside "walkway" attached.
The Clairmont paddle-wheeler was later added and featured rides for the visitors on the Calumet Lake.
